The Police have confirmed that no action is to be taken with regard to recent spillages of silt on the roads around Peel.
Chief Inspector Darrill Pearson commented:
“We have received specialist advice regarding any hazard that might have prevailed under ADR (European Agreement Concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road) Regulations. As this threshold was not reached, we have dealt with this matter as we would do with any other case of spillage on our roads.
It is probably a good opportunity to remind contractors, farmers and anyone else who may leave deposits on public roads, that they must act responsibly and meet their obligations under the Highways Act 1986. This includes placing warning signs, and removing the deposits within a reasonable time.”
