Convicted murderer to hear sentence today

by isleofman.com 24th April 2015

A convicted murderer from Castletown is due to be sentenced at Douglas Courthouse today (24 April).
Forty-six-year-old Ian Anderson was convicted of murdering 60-year-old Neil Roberts last week.
The sentencing marks the final stage of a five week trial over the killing, which took place 16 months ago.
In December 2013, Mr Roberts's body was found by police at Anderson's Castletown home he shared with his wife.
During the trial, the court heard how Mr Roberts died from extensive injuries to his face, ribs and internal organs - the results of a fatal beating from Anderson.
The prosection told a 12-person jury the extent of his wounds proved Anderson was guilty of murder.
Claims Anderson acted in self defence and was suffering from a personality disorder on the night of the murder, were rejected by the jury which returned a unanimous verdict last week (17 April).
Today Deemster Montgomerie will sentence Anderson at Douglas Courthouse.
