Don’t be a stick in the mud – get your Tough Mann entry in now!

by isleofman.com 17th April 2015

Entries for this year’s Tough Mann Adventure Challenge are coming in fast – so you will have to be quick to be certain of joining in the fun. The Tough Mann Adventure Challenge in association with Manx Telecom is a 10km assault course race which includes 25 obstacles such as muddy bogs, rope scrambles and monkey bars. The 2015 event is on Saturday August 1 at Ballamoar Farm, Ballaugh, and there’s an ?8 discount on the full price of the entry fee for anyone signing up before April 30. It costs ?37 up until that date and is then ?41 until June 30, and ?45 thereafter until the final entry deadline at midnight on Sunday July 26. However, the event is strictly limited to a maximum of 750 entrants so organisers are urging everyone who wants to be certain of taking part to enter as soon as possible. The event is open to competitors who will be 16 or over on August 1 this year.

Kez Wardell and Richard Cryer, Tough Mann Adventure Challenge organisers, commented:

“We’re expecting the entry list to be full well before the final deadline, so we would advise anyone who wants to be part of Tough Mann this year to enter now to avoid disappointment. Since it began in 2013 interest in Tough Mann has grown significantly and with a new headline sponsor committed to supporting us until 2017 we can add new attractions to make it even bigger and better. It’s a great day out for all the family, not just those taking part. This year we will have a Tough Mann event arena providing children’s entertainment, food vans, live music, and full rest-room facilities – so there will be plenty for competitors and their families and friends to do after the race.”

The event is open to individuals and teams of three. All competitors over the age of 18 who complete the challenge will receive a commemorative t-shirt and a free Bushy’s beer (finishers aged under 18 will receive a free soft drink). The organisers have put procedures in place to make sure the correct drink is given to each finisher.

Manx Telecom recently announced a three year deal to sponsor the event until 2017, and to celebrate the company will be providing 4G ready smartphones as prizes. In addition to providing financial support to help organisers grow the event, the company is also providing technical assistance to help cope with the complex logistics of running the event, collating results, and helping to promote the event via Manx Telecom’s media channels.

Tough Mann is also being supported by event partners including Paddy Power, Paragon Recruitment, and Manx Independent Carriers to name just a few. Event organisers are asking every competitor to try and raise ?10 for The Children's Centre to help support the charity’s many projects which help families and children across the Island. Entrants can collect donations with the form that they will receive on the sign-on evening, or you can donate directly by going to http://www.thechildrenscentre.org.im/support-our-work/donate-online/.

Tough Mann is the latest major event to be sponsored by the Island’s leading telecoms provider. Manx Telecom also sponsor the Parish Walk, End2End Mountain Bike Challenge, and the Royal Manx Agricultural Show.
