Murder trial jury out to decide verdict

by isleofman.com 17th April 2015

The jury in a murder trial has retired to decide its verdict.

Forty-six-year-old Ian Anderson denies murdering 60-year-old Neil Roberts from Ballabeg, in late 2013.

Yesterday Deemster Alistair Montgomerie finished his case summary of the trial.

The trial of Mr Anderson has lasted almost five weeks.

Deemster Montgomerie told the jury Manx law compels them to reach a unamimous decision.

The deemster told jurors to consider the evidence critically, and not to be effected by emotions or sympathy.

He noted the jury had a "grand stand view" of the defendant over a period of five days, and questions of his credibility was down to the jury alone.

Jurors are expected to give their verdict by the end of the day.
