Edgewater Lending Services and Captima Limited have announced a joint venture to provide a single resource for lending solutions to the Island’s finance sector, businesses and private individuals.
Headed by locally renowned financial consultants Trevor Kirk and Steve Rumsey, Edgewater Lending Services is part of Edgewater Associates Limited and the Manx Financial Group Plc, an AIM listed Financial Group and enables private and commercial clients greater access to the mortgage lending market. Captima Limited is an independent structured finance firm offering private, corporate and institutional clients comprehensive capital solutions across M&A, equity, debt and acquisition finance and other specialised financing. Together, the two companies aim to offer capital access and finance solutions to businesses and individuals, with appropriate, long-term strategic considerations.
Sandra Cardwell, Managing Director of Edgewater Associates Limited, said “I am delighted we have been able to expand our services and combine our expertise through this strategic partnership. Together, our expert advisers are able to guide clients through the complex capital and lending markets, allowing them to focus purely on their business and financial ambitions. Such an approach is central to the culture here at Edgewater, and as their excellent reputation suggests, so too is the culture at Captima. “I look forward to watching this new venture progress and offer the Isle of Man something refreshing and tailor made to client needs.”
Trevor Kirk and Steve Rumsey are familiar Island faces with over 60 years’ combined banking experience. Trevor explains: “Our years of experience as corporate and commercial bankers means that Edgewater Lending Services can help clients to organise their borrowing requirements so that they are maximising their borrowing options. We can also help present requirements in the best possible way to the right lenders and ensure the request fits the preferred guidelines of each lender. Whether retail banks, asset finance lenders, factoring companies, specialist and peer to peer lenders, we will use our expertise to help clients access complex markets which can be difficult to navigate.”
From guiding private business owners through the various sources and types of capital available to developing the most complex capital structures for multi-national enterprises, Captima’s expertise is drawn from a wealth of experience guiding businesses through the entire capitalization lifecycle. Combined with Edgewater Lending Services’ access to the mortgage lending markets, the two make a formidable team. Trevor continued: “The partnership with Captima enables us to draw on their vast experience structuring senior, mezzanine and equity finance for private, corporate and institutional clients. Captima is well positioned to deliver innovative private and institutional equity and debt capital to clients. They have reliable and dependable relationships which boast committed capital for transactions.”
Mark Watson, co-founder and Director of Captima, also commented: “Combining our resources means that we can offer a broad range of funding solutions to a wider customer base, both locally and internationally. We use customised capital strategies and specially tailored concepts to tap into diversified sources of capital across various asset classes. Our team are adept operators in the global financial markets and we have built an international presence by forging strategic alliances with selected partners. We use a clearly defined capital structuring process, which brings clarity, transparency and a systematic approach to successful funding solutions. This includes an innovative risk management system that helps us to assess risk realistically and use it to add value. This should provide a far greater choice for borrowers – which should be particularly appealing as there is restricted lending appetite on island at the moment.”
