Schools' work placement provider loses contract

by isleofman.com 15th April 2015
There's to be a shake-up in the way work experience placements are organised for Manx youngsters.

It's understood the government has ended its contract with the off-Island company which until now, has set-up attachments with Island employers.

Directors of Sheffield-based my-work-experience.com Phil Porter and Ron Robinson have criticised the decision not to extend their contract.

They say the firm's proposal to continue the service until a new provider has bedded-in, has been ignored.

The directors accuse government departments of poor communicaiton - and giving-in to lobbing by external individuals and groups.

There's been no comment so far from government.

It's unclear how work placements for Year 10 pupils in the Island's five secondary schools will be organised in future.
