Tesco Express for Douglas?

by isleofman.com 14th April 2015

Tesco is set to unveil plans for a town centre store to the public.

The supermarket giant wants to open a Tesco Express in the former MEA shop in the Strand Centre, Douglas.

Mark Thomas, Tesco corporate affairs manager, said: 'We're excited about our proposals to open a new Express store in the centre of Douglas - reviving an empty shop unit, attracting more people into this part of town and creating up to 20 new jobs for the local community.'

He said a public exhibition, which will be held on Thursday April 23 at the vacant shop unit from 2pm to 7pm, would give people an opportunity to find out more and give their feedback.

The planned store would be Tesco's second supermarket on the island. It employs over 290 people at its superstore on the outskirts of Douglas which opened 15 years ago.
