Steam Packet donates to Hyperbaric Chamber

by isleofman.com 13th April 2015

The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company has donated ?500 to the Hyperbaric Chamber as a thank you to the team for supporting the divers who helped repair Manannan.

As part of the dive team support last week, the team from the Hyperbaric Chamber was on standby throughout in case of emergency.

They also arranged the refilling of air bottles, in addition to transporting them to and from Peel whenever the Company wasn’t able to do so – and the Hyperbaric Chamber did this all free of charge.

Manannan was out of service for several days after sea debris caused extensive damage to its trim tab and water jet steering gear. It returned to service on Saturday (April 11th).

Steam Packet Company Chief Executive Mark Woodward said: ‘It was an extremely challenging week for everyone involved, and the dive team worked long hours to investigate the damage caused to Manannan and remove the damaged parts.

‘The Hyperbaric Chamber provides a vital service to the Island, and the professionalism of its team and the support offered to us during the week was exemplary. As a gesture of goodwill, we wanted to make a donation to help the team continue to provide this important resource.’
