Bottom side Ruskin Park threw themselves a relegation lifeline when they beat Douglas 26-14 in South Lancashire/Cheshire Division One on Saturday.
Douglas’ win against Northwich two weeks ago ensured their safety and, to that extent, the game was something of a dead rubber for them.
James Wood and Luke Hyland both crossed for Douglas tries with Bryn Snellgrove adding the conversions.
Douglas now look forward to their final home match next Saturday, when Sefton visit Port-e-Chee.
In Division Two, a trip to the league leaders was always going to be a daunting prospect for Vagabonds, who gave a good account of themselves before going down 41-17 at Liverpool Collegiate.
Ross McCulloch picked up a try for Vagas who were also awarded a penalty try.
Aidan O’Shea kicked two conversions and a penalty.
Oswestry are the visitors to Ballafletcher next Saturday as Vagas wind up their league season.
