by isleofman.com 11th April 2015
Regular TT competitor Gary Carswell has died following an incident in this morning's first practice session at the Jurby Motodrome race meeting.
A statement from the Andreas Racing Association says Gary was taken to Noble's Hospital after sustaining serious injuries but unfortunately lost his life, despite the hard work of medical staff.
An investigation has been launched and Andreas Racing has passed on its sincere condolences to Gary's wife Lisa, daughter Amy, family and friends.
Gary was 46 years old and worked for Manx Utilities.
He finished third in the 2004 Senior TT and stepped onto the podium with winner Adrian Archibald and runner-up Bruce Anstey.
In all, he had eight top-10 finishes at the TT from 56 starts.
Carswell also won the 1997 Senior Manx Grand Prix.
