Post Office defends stamp prices

Isle of Man Post Office has defended its latest price increase saying its still one of the cheapest places in Europe to post a letter.


Post Office spokesperson also compared the Isle of Man against the UK (63p), Jersey (57p) & Guernsey (55p).


The cost of sending a letter to the UK/Isle of Man will increase by 2p from Tuesday 5th May.


Since 2009 the cost of sending a letter within the Island as increased by 37.5% from 32p to 44p.


Ex member of the Post Office board, Leonard Singer MHK, had suggested the money raised from increasing the cost of stamps could be used to save the main post offices in Ramsey and Douglas which are under threat of being privatised.
