As the Steam Packet confirmed the Manannan will resume her scheduled service on Saturday, the watchdog group TravelWatch announced they want two urgent reviews into the sailing disruptions that have happened over the last few months.
The review would also try to establish any damage to the Island’s reputation and economy and also explore what could be done to reduce the possibility of further disruptions.
The second investigation would examine the provision of information and facilities for making alternative travel arrangements and keeping passengers informed.
The Manannan fast craft had been out of action for a week after her engines ingested debris on entering the harbour. ?100,000 has been spent on repairs and on Friday the vessel successfully completed berthing and sea trials.
Steam Packet Chief Executive Mark Woodward paid tribute to the company's engineers and divers who he says have worked tirelessly to return the Manannan to service as quickly as possible.
