The Albany/Nedgroup Junior Open starts on 18 April with entries closing at 5pm on Saturday 11 April. Please hurry with your entry so that the referee can start work on the tournament programme. Just post your entry in the white box in the club room or enter by e-mail to ianwatsonpts@manx.net.

Your 1st match time will be e-mailed to you. Juniors from other clubs are welcome to enter and this makes for better competition if there are some new players taking part. Events are U8, U9, U10 ,U12, U14, U16 ,U18 singles and if time and weather permit we will include doubles – entry during the tournament.

Congratulations to the Albany B team who have won Div. 2 of the IOMLTA Winter Mixed League. With so many players away on business trips the team has varied quite a bit but the players who have been available and played at least one match are Jackie Russell (Capt.) Kirsten Hall, Gillian Pearson, Val Worth, Bridget Stewart, David Bufton, Stuart Colligon, Jay Skelcher-Maxwell and Sasha Thomas. Some of these players have had to play in the A team so it’s been a busy winter season. Div 1 winners will be decided on Saturday when Castletown entertain Albany A . Jackie has done a very good job acting as club captain whilst Ian Watson has been off island for family reasons. Sadly his father died 2 weeks ago and the funeral is Friday. Sincere condolences to Ian, Jan and family from all at Albany. Thanks to Jackie for organising everything for our league matches.

The Island Games tennis committee have organised a fund raising Night at the Races which will be held in the lounge at Albany on Friday 24 April starting at 7.30pm. Further details from Elena Snidal by e-mail - esnidal@hotmail.com.
The club does have some players selected for the IG team so it would only right that our members support this event. I’m sure Elena would welcome some raffle prizes.

More news from Laura Feely who whilst studying hard at Loughborough is playing a lot of tennis on the British Tour. Latest results: Warwick 1st rd. beat Bethan Haywood 7/5 6/2, 2nd rd beat Rachel Porter 7/5 3/6 6/3, qtr. F lost 1/6 1/6 to Louise Holtum. Bolton 1st rd beat Lauren Harrington 6/3, 6/4, 2nd rd lost to Laurie Clark 6/7(4) 6/1 5/7 in a very close match. Our Laura is ranked in the top 100 British women players – well done and keep up the good work.
