Packet transports eclectic work to exhibtion

by isleofman.com 2nd April 2015

Sponsorship from the Steam Packet Company has helped the Island's Sayle Gallery stage an important exhibition of the work of expressionist painter Joseph Urie this month.
A retrospective of prints and paintings entitled Phantasmagoria opens at the Douglas gallery from 10 April until early May.
The Packet has provided free transport from the UK for Urie's works, many of them held in noted national and private collections.
Damien Ciappelli, chairman of Sayle Gallery, has thanked the Steam Packet and Isle of Man Arts Council for their continued support.
The artist will be in the Isle of Man during the exhibition for his annual bicycle tour of the countryside, seeking 'fresh inspiration' from the Manx countryside.
SPC Chief Exeutive Mark Woodward said: "It was a pleasure to lend our support to the Sayle Gallery’s recent Embers exhibition, and I’m pleased we have been able to help make another collection of artworks available for the Manx public to view."
