It's 25 years to the day since the start of the Strangeways prison riot - the longest and most serious disturbance at a British jail in the 20th century.
Events at the overcrowded Victorian prison in Manchester made headlines around the world.
Rioting inmates rampaged through the prison, building barricades, starting fires and - in a dramatic rooftop protest - pelting prison officers and riot police below with slates and tiles.
Strangeways governor Brendan O'Friel, who now lives in the Isle of Man, says the momentous events of that time are etched on his memory.
