Alan Wright, one of the most well-known voices on BBC Radio for nearly 30 years and, more recently, a familiar face on BBC TV, attended the Isle of Man Fund Association’s Annual Dinner as its after-dinner guest speaker at the Palace Hotel and Casino in Douglas on Friday 13th March, 2015.
RBS International and MAC Financial Group were the main sponsors of the evening, which welcomed nearly 200 guests representing the whole spectrum of the Island's investment community. These included collective fund managers and administrators, trustees and custodians, stockbrokers, private client asset managers, life assurance companies and investment banks, as well as professional firms such as accountants, lawyers and software vendors who provide services to the investment business industry.
Isle of Man Fund Association’s Chairman, Mr David McGarry opened the evening with an update on the association’s plans for the coming year. Chief Minister, Allan Bell MHK was also in attendance and provided guests with an insightful update on Isle of Man Government’s work alongside the funds industry.
The Charity Raffle of the evening was a huge success with the guests raising ?2,000 for nominated charities Cruse Bereavement Care Isle of Man and Victim Support Isle of Man.
Commenting on the event, Chairman of the Isle of Man Fund Association and Managing Director of KPMG in the Isle of Man, Mr David McGarry, said: “The annual dinner has always been an occasion to highlight and celebrate the invaluable work of the Isle of Man Funds Association and its members as we continue our on-going efforts to promote the Isle of Man as an international business centre and a reputable and effective fund jurisdiction. The event provides a great opportunity for those working in the Island’s fund sector to meet and network, whilst celebrating the successes of the most recent year. I would like to express thanks to the Chief Minister, RBS International and MAC Financial Group for their support, our guest speaker Alan Wright for his entertaining performance, and all those who kindly donated prizes for the charity raffle.”
