The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company is delighted to offer its support to this year’s Deep South Festival.

Now in its third year, the two-day festival takes place at Stone Field, Port St Mary on Saturday, July 4th and Sunday, July 5th, with headline acts including The Christians and China Crisis.

There will be three main stages during the festival, and while the main focus is on music, there will be plenty of other attractions, including performances of ‘Lion’, a ‘mysterious, magic, illuminating dance’ which originated in China under the Ming Dynasty.

As it has in previous years, the Steam Packet Company is supporting the festival by helping bring acts to the Island.

Deep South organiser Chris Carr said: ‘We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Steam Packet Company for its assistance in bringing artists to the Deep South Festival this summer. Without the Company’s kind generosity, events such as ours would be extremely difficult to stage, especially with the tight budget constraints to which we have to adhere.

‘We are really excited by the line-up for this year’s festival, with iconic headline acts from the ‘80s. The show starts at noon on Saturday, July 4th with the mystical magical dance of the lion, and concludes with the Christians on the main stage on Sunday evening. All in all, a festival cast of 236 will showcase on three stages incorporating storytelling, poetry, brass bands, choirs and burlesque dancing!’

Steam Packet Company Chief Executive Mark Woodward said: ‘The Deep South Festival is growing year-on-year. In addition to bringing acts to the Isle of Man, it provides a platform for Island-based musicians. Chris and his team are developing a real community festival for the Island, with music, activities, stalls, and rides and games for children.’
