ICM Group volunteer scheme benefits MSPCA

by isleofman.com 30th March 2015
Douglas based ICM Group, which provides corporate services to international clients, runs a volunteer scheme for staff. Every year, staff are given the opportunity to use two work days to help a charity of their choice. Numerous charities across the Island have benefitted from this.

Senior administrator for ICM Aviation, Andy Duggan, is a regular weekend volunteer for the Manx Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ManxSPCA) and chose to use one of his volunteer days to give the charity some extra help.

Andy told us why he wanted to volunteer for the ManxSPCA:

“I regularly visit the ManxSPCA to walk the dogs. They only have a small number of staff and the amount of time that they have to spend with the animals can be extremely limited due to the number of daily tasks they have to carry out. They rely heavily upon volunteers to assist. During my volunteer day I walked the dogs and also helped redecorate the main kennel buildings.

As a volunteer with the ManxSPCA you can walk dogs that are either rescued or at the ManxSPCA for boarding. You can also assist with dog, cat and small animal socialising.

You can also help out with collection of charitable donations from around the island, maintaining the ManxSPCA grounds, main buildings and nature trail, as well as assisting staff with fundraising events and in their charity shop. I am currently organising a bag pack for them which will take place on 4th April at Tesco’s store in Douglas.“

Margaret Mansfield of the ManxSPCA thanked Andy for his efforts:

“We would like to thank the ICM Group for giving Andy the day off to help us. He is one of our regular volunteers anyway but to have some extra time from him was a great help. If anyone would like to find out more about volunteering with us or making a donation, further information can be found on our website www.manxspca.com.”

The ManxSPCA is a Manx Registered Charity founded in 1897. It cares for all creatures in need of help and relies 100% on charitable donations in order to meet the ?1,600 a day it costs to operate, as it receives no funding from the Isle of Man Government.
