Mike Clancy, General Secretary of Prospect is due to visit the island in April to open their new Isle of Man office and meet members of his union.
The union have opened new premises in Chesterfield House, Victoria Street, Douglas as a response to their increased membership. The union has almost doubled in size over the last 7 years, in terms of representing over 2000 members on the island in the public and private sectors.
The official opening is taking place on 2 April from 12.00 - 2pm and all members and non- members are welcome to attend.
Clancy has been a frequent visitor to the Island in support of his members and is well versed in the issues affecting them at present – which include job security, pay and pensions issues
Speaking of his visit, Clancy said:
“It’s great to be coming back to the Island – to open our new premises and demonstrate our long term commitment to members on the Island. The office is a better facility for members to use, and we are pleased to be investing our resources on the Island in this way for the benefit of our members. “
Isle of Man Negotiations Officer, Angela Moffatt said:
“We wanted to have Mike open the new office, as he has been instrumental in making our union grow on the Island. We wanted a chance for members and non-members to see where we are and talk to us about the issues affecting them. It has been a tough period over the last few years and we wanted to show people that Prospect are committed to the Isle of Man and are here to stay.”
