by isleofman.com 27th March 2015

Commonwealth Games medallist Peter Kennaugh picked up the Sportsman of the Year award at last night's annual Isle of Man Sports Awards.

He told a packed audience: 'Just to represent the Isle of Man was an honour.'

Sportswoman of the year went to snowboard champion Zoe Gillings-Brier, while TT rider Conor Cummins won ambassador of the year.

A new category introduced this year was Veteran Sportsperson and this was awarded to
sidecar rider Dave Molyneux, who has 17 TT wins under his belt.

Guest of Honour was Commonwealth Games and European Championship medallist Jo Pavey

Accepting his award, Peter Kennaugh said: 'To come here and sit down with my family and friends and listen to all the stories from all the other people, it really does help put things into perspective.

'It is a small community but there is something about small communities which almost gives you more determination and willpower to succeed.’
