Murder trial to hear from police

by isleofman.com 25th March 2015
This morning, the jury in the murder trial of a Castletown man will hear more evidence from police at Douglas Courthouse.

Forty-six-year-old Ian Anderson is pleading not guilty to the murder of 60-year-old Ballabeg man Neil Roberts.

Police found the body of Mr Roberts at Mr and Mrs Anderson's Castletown home in late 2013.

Yesterday the jury heard DC Nick Haxby read the interviews between himself and Mr Anderson in the days after the alleged murder.

DC Haxby read the part of himself and Linda Watts, prosecuting, read the part of Mr Anderson.

In the interviews Mr Anderson is quoted saying "I was fighting for my life" and only used what he said was "reasonable force" in self defence.

The prosecution also called Detective Constable Emily Butler to the stand.

The jury was shown a chart of phone calls made between the Anderson family and Mr Roberts in the lead up to the alleged murder.

DC Butler will be cross-examined by Dawn Jones for the defence today.

The trial resumes at 10 o'clock this morning at Douglas Courthouse.Clip 1
