Kitchen fire in Kirk Michael

by isleofman.com 24th March 2015

The Fire & Rescue services from Kirk Michael and Peel Stations were called yesterday, MOnday 23rd March, afternoon to a reported kitchen fire at a house at Broogh Wyllin, Kirk Michael.

Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the premises and found the fire to already be out. Venting was carried out and hot spots checked for with the use of a Thermal Image Camera.

A dog had been removed from the property by an off duty Firefighter prior to Fire Service attendance. Fire crews and members of the public revived the animal using oxygen therapy. A vet was called and the dog was taken away for further treatment for smoke inhalation.

The fire was confined to the kitchen and investigations into the cause are still ongoing. Crews remained in attendance for approximately one hour to ensure the premises were well safe and ventilated.
