Mixed conditions for solar eclipse

by isleofman.com 20th March 2015
There were mixed conditions for today's solar eclipse.
93% of the sun's disc was obscured as viewed from the Island as the event reached its peak around 9.25am
Cloudy conditions over much of the Island spoiled the spectacle for many viewers, keen to see the best solar eclipse in the British Isles since 1999.
But breaks in the cloud DID allow some glimpses for those safely equipped to look at the sun directly.
Beach Buddies founder, photographer Bill Dale, managed to get some great pictures during gaps in the cloud cover.
Large numbers had gathered at the Sound for an Eclipse Breakfast event which was led by astronomer Howard Parkin from consultancy AstroManx.
He told the crowd to be patient as there's not long to wait until a TOTAL solar eclipse visible from Britain . . .
