Islanders gather for eclipse

Islanders are hoping to witness a rare astronomical spectacle this morning (Friday) - cloud cover permitting.
A near total eclipse of the sun could bring darkness to the tail end of the morning rush hour.
In fact, the moon should block at least 93 per cent of the sun from the Island
The biggest solar eclipse in 16 years will begin around 8.25 and peak at about 9.30.
Astronomer Howard Parkin from AstroManx is hosting an eclipse breakfast at the Sound and is remaining optimistic about the weather
