ABlec Electrical Ramsey Men's Darts Report

by isleofman.com 19th March 2015

In a season when the Plough A have won everything it was a pressure final as Ian M Fields and Paul 'Aggie' Arthur stepped up against Geoff Howland and Andrew Hudgeon in what was a fantastic final. They can so easily be a case off after the load mayor's show but this was of great quality. Even the first exchange of darts in the first leg as the Plough A boys both hit 140's. This was offsetted against the 180 by Ian and the' not so great 26' by Aggie. The Bar Logo boys nicked the first leg with Aggie needing just one dart at double 18. The Plough pairing upped the pace and the scoring was like watching something of the telly as they cruised to the second leg to square it up. The Logo boys who had the darts again in leg three proved they had the bottle as they took another good leg to retake the lead. The tons never stopped and as Geoff missed the double to level it up again Ian stepped in to take the leg and the title 3-1.

To be fair the Bar Logo pair were extremely lucky to make it out of the quarter finals as Jamie J Skillan and Simon Griffin should have took the match 2-0 but it was the Logo who went through 2-1.  Fantastic 90 finish by Simon though including two double 18's.
The all Plough game was a tense affair with Paul Palmer and James Arneil not quite hitting the heights they did last week when they dispatched Gazza Uren and Robert Nelson before then taking out Mac MacDonald and Jamie Kelly.

Roy Dunlop / Glenn Charnock v Alan Young / Andy Evans this was a great typical quarter final dog fight that went all the way but the Mitre missed their double whereas the Logo hit it to book their semi-final slot against their team mates.

Malcolm Callow / Robbie Crennell v Jimmy MacDonald / Chris Higgins. The old boys were simply too much to handle for the other Logo pairing as Malla and Robbie threw some great stuff to seal their semi-final against Geoff and Hudgie.

Semi finals

Fields / Arthur v Young / Evans

These boys seemed to settle down quickly and showed no signs of nerves as the scores flowed. The winners on the night took the first leg before Aggie hits 131 to leave Ian 50 but Alan was having none of this as he took out a great ton plus finish under extreme pressure to level it but the third leg was one to far.

Howland / Hudgeon v Callow / Crennell

Great game this one and definately one the Central boys will think one that got away as the they played well but missed crucial shots at crucial times whereas Geoff and Hudgie showed their class and hit theirs.

Thanks to Ali for his continued support to the league and these comps.
