Following last month’s successful meeting with Mark Lewin and Yvette Mellor from the Cabinet Office on the Government’s Digital Strategy this month the Council of Voluntary Organisations will discuss the potential for developing Community Transport in the Isle of Man.
On Thursday 19th March joining the debate will be Hon Phil Gawne MHK, Minister and Mrs. Kate Beecroft MHK, Department Member, Department of Infrastructure, together with Ian Longworth, Director of Public Transport, and Russell Thornhill, Chief Ambulance and Paramedic Officer.
A spokesman for the CVO explained that the Red Team in the 2014 Manx Executive Challenge, organised by the Isle of Man Branch of the Chartered Management Institute, produced an excellent report, following extensive research, which evaluated the delivery of Community Transport services on the Isle of Man, its significant importance to the Island exploring the keys needs in this area and the barriers to delivering those needs. “This is a piece of work of importance to both the Government and people of the Island”, he continued, “and the purpose of the meeting is to determine how it can be taken forward on a multi-agency basis”
The meeting will be held at Masham Court, Victoria Avenue, Douglas commencing at 6.00pm.Tea and coffee will be available from 5.30pm
