Way ahead for TravelWatch

by isleofman.com 17th March 2015

Passengers pressure group TravelWatch is appealing for younger members to help the organisation move forward.

The group holds its annual general meeting this weekend and is questioning whether TravelWatch is still needed.

A spokesman said: 'This year will see us clocking up eight years of representing and promoting the interests of Isle of Man passengers. During that time much has been achieved but inevitably some frustrations remain.

'The mostly young retirees who started the organisation are now eight years older, and hopefully a bit wiser - wise enough to realise that we need to update and re-focus for the future. We are grateful to those who have joined the committee more recently, but we do
need new, active and younger members to help us move forward.'

Anyone with ideas they wish to put forward should attend the agm this Saturday at 10am at the Villa Marina.

Members of the audience who have something to say about transport issues can give a three-minute talk. Two topics are already on the agenda - the new Go card bus ticketing system and Peel Transport Museum. Anyone who wants to make a presentation should contact TravelWatch chairman Brendan O'Friel at brendan@ofriel.fsnet.co.uk or call him on 833636.
