Isle of Man-based house builder Hartford Homes has donated five hundred pounds to the Anaphylaxis Campaign, a charity which helps people who suffer with severe allergic reactions.

The Anaphylaxis Campaign is a UK-wide organisation which provides information and support relating to foods and other triggers such as latex, drugs and insect stings, as well as campaigning for awareness.

Hartford Homes director James Greenhalgh, whose three year old son is severely allergic to multiple foods, said “We want to support the charity for the great work it does in helping individuals and carers of people with this frightening condition.

 “We also want to raise awareness and general understanding here on the Isle of Man because as a parent it is a worry that something as simple as giving my child a chocolate could make him seriously ill.”

The Anaphylaxis Campaign’s aim is to create a safe environment for all people with allergies by educating the food industry, schools, pre-schools, colleges, health professionals and other key audiences. Its focus is on medical facts, food labelling, risk reduction and allergen management. Ultimately, its mission is to improve the lives of people with severe allergies.

James added “Personally, the Anaphylaxis Campaign has been a great source of information and has given us support when we were faced with finding out about our son’s condition.”

Hartford Homes has also backed a number of local allergy initiatives in recent months, including helping launch the Isle of Man Allergy & Anaphylaxis Support group, as well as sponsoring allergen awareness training for the staff of Hopes & Dreams nursery.
