Edgewater announces expansion of Lending Services

by isleofman.com 11th March 2015
Edgewater Associates Ltd is delighted to announce the expansion of Edgewater Lending Services within the Isle of Man market place. The service, which will be headed by locally renowned financial consultants Trevor Kirk and Steve Rumsey, enables private and commercial clients greater access to the mortgage lending market and employs a five-fold plan which includes re-arranging existing borrowing and strengthening applications, choosing lenders which offer the right solution and price, application preparation, case presentation and progress monitoring.

“Edgewater has a history of helping people obtain mortgage lending”, said Sandra Cardwell, Managing Director of Edgewater Associates. “We have an excellent personal mortgage sourcing service which Ian Crawford has developed.  However, we recognise that many of our corporate and commercial clients are finding it increasingly difficult to arrange finance with the banks. Getting the best possible terms is very important so we are pleased to be able to offer alternative solutions with our extensive knowledge of the market place.”

“Trevor Kirk and Steve Rumsey will be providing their services as consultants to help individuals and businesses avoid paying more. Their knowledge of the rates and margins, and our collective buying power, will mean that we can provide real assurance to our clients. Trevor and Steve have over 60 years’ corporate and commercial banking experience between them and are able to draw upon a wide range of lenders who have an appetite for different propositions. Knowing how to approach lenders and how to structure commercial finances are also critical for success.”

Trevor Kirk spent 28 years with Lloyds Bank, the last 8 years on the island leading the Corporate and Commercial Banking division. His wealth of experience in the market means that he is acutely aware of the changing picture when it comes to the credit appetite and requirements of the banks.  Trevor said: “The events of the last few years, following the events of 2008, led to a desire to see companies obtain the financial assistance they are looking for to grow their businesses and a desire to help individuals make the right decision when applying for a mortgage. We are committed to helping in this way and combine this with a passion for assuring people that they are paying the right price for services. That’s what we deliver and we are pleased to provide that assistance to the businesses and individuals of the Isle of Man.”

Trevor is professionally qualified as an Associate of the Institute of Financial Services and holds a Diploma in Company Direction with the Institute of Directors.
Steve worked for 34 years at HSBC before establishing his own business consultancy.  Since then, Steve has focussed on helping some of his former customers with their borrowing requirements. Steve is professionally qualified as an Associate of the Institute of Financial Services and has been a lecturer in commercial law and accountancy. He is also an Adjudicator for the financial services ombudsman scheme – a role which is essentially that of an investigating magistrate.

“It isn’t just corporate and commercial lending cases we can help with, but also finding lending solutions for individuals. Increasingly, people are being turned away by their bank due to banks’ unwillingness to lend to people beyond retirement age. We also see those who have good asset strength but need interest only finance to avoid too much pressure on their income, and avoid being declined. There are now a number of alternate lenders who are providing senior debt and taking on the banks and we are now seeing some very attractive offers from fund and consortium lenders”, said Trevor.
