Alan Johnson to open Manx LitFest

by isleofman.com 11th March 2015

A talk by former UK Home Secretary Alan Johnson will be one of the highlights of this year's Manx LitFest.

It's been announced he will open the fourth annual festival in September. Organisers teamed up with the Sporting & Dining Club to secure the Labour MP who is the author of two memoirs, This Boy and Please, Mister Postman.

LitFest organiser John Quirk said: 'We are thrilled to have the opportunity to team up with the Sporting & Dining Club to ensure this year's Manx Litfest gets off to a flying start. John Wannenburgh from the Sporting & Dining Club was looking to bring Alan to the
island, and when he realised the date he was looking at was in Litfest week, he asked if we would like to stage it in association with the festival.'

An Evening with Alan Johnson takes place at the Gaiety Theatre on Tuesday, September 22.
