A local teacher has her sights set on archery glory.
Lesley Sleight is now the number 1 Ladies American Flatbow archer in Great Britain. Her top placing has been announced in the 2014 Great Britain Field Rankings by Archery GB, the national governing body.
Lesley, who teaches life skills at QEII High School, gained a high score that not only ranked her first among the women but was higher than the top ranked man.
She said: 'There are eight bow classes in field archery and the flatbow discipline is the only class where a lady is scoring more points than a man. My average two day score this year is 378 points and I am hoping to improve on this. My aim is to become the first Isle of Man field archer to gain Grand Master Bowmen status. I gained two Grand Master Bowman scores last year but I need to score three in one year to gain such status.'
Lesley is pictured competing for Great Britain in the European championships in Estonia.
