Police change anti-burglary tactics

by isleofman.com 3rd March 2015
Manx homes are still at risk as further burglaries are reported.
Police have confirmed thieves have struck at several more addresses in the greater Douglas area over the last few days.
Six burglaries were reported last week alone, with officers admitting there were similiarities between those and the series of around 40 break-ins at the start of the year.
Police say the response from the public has been great and they have positive lines of inquiry as a result.
However, they're reluctant to reveal any detailed information of the recent offences, especially over social media.
Officers believe too many details have been publicised and hope by restricting information will put off any would-be offenders.
They claim the suspects are using the wealth of information online to their advantage.
Police are still urging people to take extra care, and let a neighbour know if they're going away or leaving their house unoccupied for any period of time.
