In a wet and misty afternoon, Ashley Webster’s late second half goal helped keep Peel’s title hopes alive, as the Westerners secured a vital 1-0 win against Corinthians to stay within touching distance of leaders St Georges.
There were no such nerves at Glencrutchery Road as goals from Sam Caine (4), Chris Bass Jnr (2), Jack McVey (2), Ciaran McNulty (2), Connor Doyle, Liam Cowin and an own goal saw St George’s record an impressive 13-0 victory against Ayre United.
At Glen Road, Ramsey ran out 3-0 winners over the hosts Laxey thanks to goals from Declan Cummings, Matthew Skillacorn and Tom Bentham.
Steven Glover’s first half brace and a second half strike from Michael Stringer saw St John’s come away with a 3-0 victory at Rushen United.
And at the Bowl, a Steven Presitnal hat-trick helped St Marys seal a 5-1 win against the leagues bottom side Michael United to make their relegation official.
In the Woods Cup quarter finals it was a family affair in Braddan’s tie against Governors Athletic as Mark, Ben and Tom O’Neill all got on the score sheet in the Swans 5-1 extra time victory, after a Paul Reilly penalty saw the game finish 1-1 at the end of normal time.
Douglas Athletic won the battle between the Second Division top sides as a Matthew Aire goal secured 1-0 win against Marown.
Colby also confirmed their semi-final place as they won 4-0 against Douglas & District, with goals from Jordan Edge, Brett Alcott, Al Guy and Danny Knifedon.
And at Ballafletcher, Douglas Royal narrowly beat Foxdale 3-2 after extra time, following both sides finishing level on 2-2 after 90 minutes.
The semi final draw Colby will host Braddan whilst Douglas Royal go to Douglas Athletic.
In the Second Division, Rio Allison’s goal and an Andy Asbridge’s penalty save was enough for Onchan to snatch a 1-0 victory against Pulrose United, and the Southern derby between Malew and Castletown finished one apiece at Ballasalla.
Old Boys maintained their place at the top of Combination One as they won 5-1 against Union Mills.
And congratulations to Douglas Athletic who have won their first piece of silverware since reforming as they became Combination Two League Champions following their 4-0 victory at Foxdale.
