Winter Hill anniversary commemorated

by isleofman.com 27th February 2015
A special church service this morning remembered the 35 victims of the Island’s worst civilian air disaster, which happened 57 years ago today.

The Winter Hill crash devastated the Island when a plane carrying members of the motor trade to a day trip in the UK came down in Lancashire as it headed towards Manchester Airport.

Earlier, the Rotary Club of Douglas held a memorial for friends and families of those who lost their lives in St John’s.

Organiser Howard Callow says even after all this time, emotions are still raw:Clip 1
