One of the club’s top juniors has again played in the UK with some encouraging results. In a Grade 3 event at the David Lloyd Centre in Derbyshire Sean Drewry (16) played in the Men’s Singles losing in a close match 3/6 7/6(2) 4-10 to Mathew Tottey. In the Boys U16 singles he beat Bill Brown 6/3 6/1 before losing in the q/finals 1/6 0/6 to the No 2 seed Joe Newman-Billington. He then partnered Joe in theU16 doubles with a 4/1 4/1 win in the semi-final over Joel Hancox/Roman Kenny-Manning. They lost 4/6 4/6 in the final to the top seeds. Sean also played in U18 singles beating the no. 4 seed Mason Laywood 6/2 2/6 (10-8) in q/final before losing 1/6 0/6 to top seed Joe Tyler. The 3rd/4th place playoff was another win for Sean beating the No 3 seed David Perez 5/7 6/2 (12-10). Sean has since followed this up with winning the IOM Senior and Junior Table Tennis Championships. Congratulations Sean – the hard work is paying off in both sports.
The club will be running another a Mini Tennis Match Play event for red, orange and green ball players on 7 and 8 March your coaches will also remind you about it this weekend. Entry fee ?3. Matches will be played at the following dates and times: Orange Ball (U9)– Saturday 7 March – starting at 10am. Red Ball (U8) Saturday 7 March from 2pm – 4pm . The Green Ball (U10) event will be on Sunday 8 March from 12 – 3pm. Entry is by e-mail – ianwatsonpts@manx.net or put your name on the flip chart in the club room. Membership renewals notices are in the clubroom for members to collect so please do so if possible as this will save a lot of expense on postage. There is no increase in fees for this coming year and the fees should be paid no later than 31st March. Current memberships lapse on 1st April.

We are still selling used tennis balls suitable for dogs at ?5 for a bag of 20.
