Awareness of pressures to trigger self-harm

The causes of self harm are being explored in the Island in the run up to a worldwide awareness day this weekend.
People of all ages and backgrounds resort to injuring themselves as a way of coping with strong emotions and difficult circumstances.
Last year, around 530 people were treated in Accident and Emergency at Noble's hospital after injuring themselves.
But because many people succumb to biting, scratching, bruising or cutting themselves in private, it's thought that figure is just the tip of the iceberg.
This week, schools have been offering pupils advice on ways of coping with stressful situations.
