Ramsey Men's Dart League Report

by isleofman.com 26th February 2015

Penultimate week of the Ablec electrical Ramsey Men's Darts League and the champions demolished The Buffs.

Plough A 9 - 0 RAOB

The champions showed exactly why they have been untouchable this year as they didn't just win 9-0 they destroyed the lowly Buffs losing just two legs all night.

One of these legs went the way of Martin Timoney who was arguably part of the best game this season but he lost out 2-1 to Geoff Howland with Geoff hitting 5 x 100 & 4 x 140 on his way to 20 & 16 dart legs and must have now won the ton up cup. Gazza Uren showed his worth also 4 ton scores and 100 finish to cement him as favourite for the MVP title. If he wins both his games next week the title is his. Paul Palmer gave geoff such a push in the ton up cup and with 5 ton scores has made sure of the runner up spot. Last week's unfortunate player James Arneil was back in the singles as he tried all he could to win a masters slot with a fine hall of 6 tons. Steven Waters and Andrew Hudgeon both had good wins to seal yet another home victory.

Bar Logo 4 - 5 Bar Logo AAA

No helping hands in this one as the Logo had an outside chance of third in the league but their fellow Logo team AAA dealt a huge blow to that idea. Jamie J Skillan started the night off so well but the AAA then took over thanks to Dave Maddan hitting form just before the comps start and a 180 helped. Jason Smith then put the AAA ahead with a fine win also. Chris Higgins moved them 3-1 before early season form-setter Dave Faragher reduced the lead. Charlie Cover keeps on showing flashes of his brilliance and he had another good win to put the AAA one away from the win as the match headed into the pairs. Back came the Logo as Simon Griffin and Scott Dalton plus John Taylor and David Lee took it all the way to the final match. Charlie and Mark brawls steal the thunder in this three legger to ruin the Logo's chance at third.

Traff 1 - 8 Bar Logo A

The Traff sit in third themselves but this heavy defeat didn't helped them. Their only smiling point was Alan Kinrade winning by the odd leg against Alan Young as they both hit 5 tons each. Consecutive weeks with a 180 saw Anthony Collis rise the rankings as he fights it out for a players slot come the presentation night. Good wins for Barry Sharpe , Andy Evans and Paul 'Aggie' Arthur before Ian M Fields helped by a 16 darter won the match. Ian partnered by Aggie then had a good game against John Piekalns and Richie Howland as they took the lead in the game with a 19 darter before the Logo level it. Richie missed double 16 for a 15 darter and the win as Aggie took out double 8 for their 16 darter. Alan and Andy also have a decent leg in their win. This time it was a 20 darter. Sharpie and Anthony finish it off in style.

Mitre 4 - 5 Plough B

The Plough B have come into some sort of form we all know they can do against the misfiring Mitre team who can beat the best then get beat by the worst. Plough took the lead as John Verrall and Daniel Callow opened up with wins. Game of the night as Glenn Charnock not only beat Jamie Kelly but took his 100% singles record. Glenn's 5 tons included a fine 174 as he took it 2-1. Mac MacDonald opened the lead back up to 2 before the Mitre's Harley Christian and Stu Corlett levelled the match. Geoff Heather Watson and Jason Byrne took the first pairs to give the Plough a 4-3 lead. Roy and Stu beat Mac and Nathan Walker to take this all the way. Glenn and Harley took on Jamie and Dan. Glenn hit a 180 but it wass not enough as Jamie "ton machine" did it again as the Plough B finished their season on a winning note.
