Organisations involved in the Island’s growing food and drink industry are invited to appear free of charge in the 2015 edition of a popular guide.
Make it Manx: Your Guide to Isle of Man Food and Drink will be available online as well as at the Welcome Centre at the Sea Terminal, the agricultural shows, the Isle of Man Food & Drink Festival in September and the headquarters of the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture (DEFA).
Food and drink businesses, including those that welcome visits to their premises, and caterers who use Manx produce are invited to submit an entry online via www.gov.im/foodanddrink by the deadline of 16th March.
Businesses that feature in the guide – the fifth DEFA has published – will receive their own copies, to promote their products and services.
DEFA has gained Tynwald’s approval for Food Matters, a blueprint to grow the value of the Isle of Man food and drink industry by ?50 million over the next decade.
The development of a distinctive local food and drink sector is a key aim of Vision 2020, the Government’s strategy for economic success.
Richard Ronan MHK, Minister for Environment, Food and Agriculture, said the guide would provide a comprehensive round-up of everyone producing and promoting Isle of Man food and drink.
He said: ‘Our food and drink industry is expanding, with many new and innovative enterprises coming along to join well-established and successful businesses. We are hoping they will all submit entries for this guide, which will be out in May.
‘As well as proving invaluable for local people and visitors to the Island, the guide will also be an excellent marketing tool for businesses to make people more aware of who they are and what they offer.’
