UKIP donor faces tax row

by isleofman.com 24th February 2015
A UK businessman who donated a million pounds to UKIP has sparked a row over tax avoidance after a newspaper highlighted his links to the Isle of Man.

Arron Banks was a Tory donor but switched his allegiance to Nigel Farage’s party last year after William Hague said he’d never heard of him.

His donation came from a company called Rock Services, which has sparked questions in the UK after it emerged the firm made a profit of just ?28,000 on its ?43 million turnover – and paid just ?2,000 in tax.

Its parent company Rock Holdings Ltd is registered in South Quay in Douglas.

According to the Daily Mail, a spokesman for UKIP said the party knew of the tax arrangements, adding: ‘We know all about it and Nigel Farage has said he is relaxed about tax avoidance.’
