No plans to expand data sharing - Teare

by isleofman.com 23rd February 2015
Treasury Minister Eddie Teare says his department has no plans to share the personal data of benefits claimants any more than it already does.

That's in response to a Tynwald question for written answer from Garff MHK Steve Rodan.

Mr Rodan wanted to know if there were plans to share the data with other departments, local authorities, citizens advice bureaux, social landlords and registered charities.

Mr Teare says there are some circumstances in which Treasury provides information about claimants, under specific legal authority to do so, but adds safeguards are in place.

He does not specify what those circumstances are, or what the safeguards are.
