Douglas Council has more than ?3.2 million put aside for a rainy day – while Ballaugh Commissioners have just ?22,000.

The figures were revealed in Tynwald this month when Onchan MHK Peter Karran asked Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne about each local authority’s reserves.

In a written reply, Mr Gawne said his department’s still gathering the data, but he could give numbers from March 2014.

He revealed Ramsey had ?1.68 million in the bank, while Braddan had ?973,000.
