Rea clinches WSBK opener on Kawasaki debut

by isleofman.com 23rd February 2015
Jonathan Rea made a great start to the new World Superbike season, taking victory at Phillip Island in Australia.
The Castletown resident, who was making his debut for Kawasaki, won a final-lap battle with Leon Haslam to take victory in race one by just 0.039 seconds.
Rea's great weekend continued when he finished second in race two, after being pipped by Haslam.
The 28-year-old admitted afterwards he could not have wished for such a good start to the season, at a track where he had never finished on the rostrum before.
After the first round, he is level on points with Leon Haslam at the top of the standings on 45 points.
