Sarah Astin won a bronze medal in the English National cross country at Parliament Hill, London on Saturday.

She was the leading local performer in a strong Island team.

Rachael Franklin was 16th and the Manx Harriers team – which also included Gail Griffiths and Karen Shimmin – finished seventh out of 93 teams.

There were 861 participants in the women’s race.

Katie Astin finished ninth in the under 17 women’s race, only the third Manx athlete ever to finish in the top 10 in the English National Championship, following in the footsteps of Keith Gerrard and Sarah.
