Altrincham Kersal put on a classy performance at Port-e-Chee beating a gritty Douglas side 22-6 in South Lancashire/Cheshire Division One and picking up a bonus point to boot.
An early try and conversion from Kersal full back JP Singleton got the visitors going, but Douglas struck back via two Will Cain penalties and, as half-time approached, they were within a point at 7-6.
A Ben Davis try in stoppage time, however, restored Kersal’s lead and they turned round 12-6 in front.
Second half tries from James Coulson and Tony O’Connor made the game safe for Kersal who stretched their lead at the top to 11 points.
Vagabonds were derailed at Ormskirk in Division Two.
They were unable to build on the recent good home form and were beaten comprehensively 47-6.
The defeat sees the Lancashire side climb above Vagabonds in the standings with Vagas now dropping to a safe mid table seventh position.
Ramsey won 31-10 at Liverpool University and extended their lead at the top of Division Three to nine points.
Ramsey pace man Peter Richardson ran in two tries and there were supporting scores from Fintan Cummins, Ali Trace and John Watling with Scott Kneale kicking three conversions.
Ramsey need eight points from their remaining five matches to secure a finish in the promotion places, while 17 points will guarantee them the title.
