Vagas and Emerging Nomads forge ahead

by isleofman.com 21st February 2015
Vagabonds B beat Douglas B for the second week running to stake their claim for a spot in the Shimmin Wilson Manx Trophy final.

Andre Pretorius, Arno Cruywagen, Ekong Bell, Mark McGreal and Craig Thompson all ran in tries for Vagas with Leigh Kennaugh kicking a penalty and three conversions as they ran out 34-8 winners.

In the Shimmin Wilson Manx Bowl, Emerging Nomads booked their place in the final with a 12-8 defeat of Western Vikings.

Furo Davies scored both Nomads tries and converted one.

Prop Mark Bienvenu crossed for Vikings with Ryan Burke adding a penalty.

Vikings play Ramsey B next week and the winners will play Nomads in the final.

In NC North West ?, Vagabonds Ladies lost out to another Southport late flurry.

Southport snatched a draw at Ballafletcher in the final stages of the home match earlier in the season and a similar late burst secured victory on Saturday.

Two tries from Sophie Birchall and a conversion from Sammie MacDonald kept Vagas in touch and with 10 minutes to play they were just three points adrift at 15-12.

However, Southport bagged two late tries to clinch the game and put some gloss on the scoreboard.
