GP services have recently introduced a survey for patients to anonymously give rapid feedback to practices, on what they are doing well and suggestions of how they can improve. The survey includes the simple question ‘Would you recommend this service to your friends and family?’.
The survey is short and can be quickly completed
online or by picking up a copy of the survey in any GP surgery.
The results for each surgery will be passed back to the group practice for GPs and the management team to review so that improvements can be made where necessary. The survey results will be compiled regularly and analysed by the Department of Health and Social Care, and will be made public in aggregated form.
Minister for Health and Social Care, Howard Quayle MHK, said: “To provide good quality health services for the people of the Isle of Man it is important that we take the time to listen to patients and act on their feedback. Services in the community, such as GP practices, are the backbone of our health service. They will play an increasingly prominent role as we look to develop more community based care that focusses on prevention and early intervention. Using patient feedback to ensure that existing services are as good as they can possibly be is an important first step.”
The survey is open to all GP service users each time they visit their Practice and will run indefinitely.
