A man has been found guilty of fishing in a restricted zone and fined more than a thousand pounds.
Peter Glover admitted using a gill net to catch sea bass at The Lhen in November last year.
The police were called after fisheries officers spotted Mr Glover's car on the beach during a routine patrol of the coast.
Mr Glover was found guilty of three offences and faces fines totalling ?1,025.
Minister for Environment, Food and Agriculture Richard Ronan says he hopes it sends out a strong message to deter any future offenders.
