De Fibulator courses

For some time the committee has been trying to find a convenient time for members to take the 3hr De-Fibulation course run by St John’s Ambulance for sports clubs and other groups. The Commercial Training Officer at St John’s Ambulance for the Isle of Man, Phil Bennett, has now set up some courses at HQ which people from all sports can attend. You can ring 674387 and book a place and I would like to know which members are attending so that I can inform the club committee.

The courses are:

Thursday 12 March 1pm – 4pm
Sunday 15 March 9am – 12noon
Sunday  19 April 9am – 12noon
Monday 11 May  1pm – 4pm
Saturday 27 June 9am – 12 noon
Tuesday 30 June 1pm – 4pm
Tuesday  14 July  1pm – 4pm.

PLEASE NOTE – these courses are free but there will be a penalty of ?25 for anyone who books a place and then fails to attend.

Within our membership we would like to see coaches and those who assist with coaching, league players, some Friday Morning ladies, some parents and committee members take the course. Once this is done we will be given the equipment which is donated by the Craig Heart Foundation. If you want any other information please ring Phil or e-mail: marketing@sja.org.im.  I do hope some of you will be able to spare the time to take this very important course.

The club has been unusually short of players for matches in the winter mixed league with many members off Island, all at the same time, for various reasons ie business, holidays, family, competition etc. This particularly affected the A team who lost 0-8 at home to Douglas A last Saturday. Hopefully this has been rectified for the rest of our fixtures.

Reminder that the coaching sessions are now back in full swing and we look forward to seeing our “Mini Tennis flock” on Saturday.

Finally a request from our facilities manager – will all members using the indoor court please complete the white slip with details of name, date and time if paying by cash or cheque. All receipts have to be logged and often there are anonymous payments.
