Lib Van leader votes against her own motion

South Douglas MHK Kate Beecroft found herself voting against her own motion in Tynwald yesterday, after hearing advice from the acting Attorney General.
She’d wanted the court to halt any more investment in the Island’s Media Development Fund, but was told the Island had signed a legally-binding contract with the fund’s managers.
Her motion was eventually rejected unanimously by the court.
But it led to some confusion as she was told by President of Tynwald Clare Christian she couldn’t withdraw it without permission from members
