Week sixteen of the Ablec Electrical Ramsey Men's Darts League saw the crowning of the 2014/15 champions as the Plough A proved themselves worthy winners by easily beating their closest challengers the Bar Logo A.
Bar Logo A 3 - 6 Plough A
The Plough A proved their worth by destroying the Logo A team on their own turf. The night got off to a flier for The Plough as Andrew Hudgeon beat Andy Evans 2-1 in a game of who hit their doubles first. Geoff Howland made it 2-0 as he beat Alan Young ( 180 )2-1 again all on the doubles. Robert Nelson then made it 3-0 as he gave Paul 'Aggie' Arthur a lesson in power darts 2-0 win in 15 & 16 dart legs which included 6 ton plus scores including a 180 & a 99 finish. Young Anthony Collis stopped the rot as he beat Steven Waters 2-0. The tide hadn't changed as Paul Palmer then defeated his regular opponent Ian M Fields 2-0 and the match was won by Gazza Uren as he beat Barry Sharpe 2-0. The riot didn't stop there as James Arneil and Gazza beat Andy and Alan after going 1-0 down to make the score 6-1 to The Plough. Anthony ( 180 ) and his partner Barry then beat Geordie and Palmer to make it look slightly better before Ian and Aggie beat Geoff and Hudgie to make it look a closer game than it actually was. Congratulations to the Plough A who have been simply unbeatable this season.
RAOB 0 - 9 Central
Four of the nine games went to deciding legs in this one to show it wasn't as one-sided as it you may feel. Paul Allison kept up his run of form setting The Central off to a winning start. This was followed by close ones, but wins all the same, to Mick Antrobus, Tony Kennish, David Simpson and Robbie Crennell with a more comfortable win for Lon Chambers. The pairs games were all won 2-0. Lon hit 4 tons, Simmo hit 5 tons including a 104 finish. For the buffs Martin Timoney hit 4 tons.
Bar Logo AAA 4 - 5 Traff
Even with them playing on the best board The Logo couldn't convert it to a win as The Traff kept up their fight for third spot as they won the last game to take the points. John Piekalns set The Traff off before Dave Madden levelled hitting a 180 on the way. The Traff then won the next two matches to take a 3-1 lead thanks to Jay Radcliffe and Trevor Quirk. The AAA themselves won two in a row to level again at 3-3 thanks to Charlie Cover and Ross Walker. Into the pairs and it was first blood to The Traff as Jay and Busbie beat Charlie and Dave.
The match was levelled up again when Chris Higgins and Rossy beat Trevor and Steve. So it all came down to Jimmy Mac and Jay Smith v Charlie Cormode and John Piekalns. The tension was really high and it showed with a true grit game of darts but it was Charlie and John who won it and the points.
Plough B 4 - 5 Bar logo
Another home-side defeat, which must be a record, and another side still fighting for third place. Chris Clague defeated our treasurer Tye Jones 2-0 before Jamie Leech overcame his old team mate Dave Faragher. Jamie J Skillan then won a tight one against Daniel Callow. Mac MacDonald then levelled the match up as he beat Scott Dalton 2-0. Jamie Kelly v John Taylor was always going to be the tie everyone wanted to see and they didn't disappoint as it went all the way to the wire but it wass Jamie who nickws it and a 3-2 for The Plough. Captain of the Logo David Lee himself levelled the match as he beat John Verrall in another three legger. Jamie and Chris then put The Logo team one away from victory by beating Leechy and John. The match was won in game eight as John gained some revenge on Jamie as he and his partner Scott won 2-1. Jamie was partnered by long-time pairs mate Tye. Mac and Dan regained some pride by winning the last match on against Fags and Bingo.
Next week is the last week for entries into the Mitre 5-a-side and Plough house pairs. Please pop into The Traff next Tuesday with your lists and entry money. No money, no entry. I will then pop the draws for both comps into your venue the following week.
